Our History
1998
Meritage sells the three hotels and acquires its first 28 Wendy’s restaurants in the state of Michigan.
2004
Meritage opens its first casual dining restaurant.
2009
Meritage acquires 20 Wendy’s stores in Jacksonville, FL representing the first of 27 acquisitions in the Wendy's system.
2015
Meritage meets its goal of 150 restaurants by the end of 2015.
2016
Meritage rebrands its casual dining restaurants creating six independent concepts over several years.
2018
Meritage acquires 234 Wendy’s restaurants and builds 35 Wendy’s restaurants from March 2011 through March 2018.
2019
Meritage commits to build 50 Wendy’s restaurants by 2025 and creates a new brunch concept - Morning Belle.
2021
Meritage signs an exclusive 55-store development agreement with Taco John’s that includes additional, exclusive rights to develop more than 200 restaurants.
2022
Meritage acquires six Wendy's restaurants in Jacksonville, FL bringing its total to 350 Wendy's locations. Meritage opens its first Taco John’s restaurant in West Michigan.
2023
Meritage acquires 25 Wendy's restaurants in North Carolina bringing its total to 375 Wendy's locations. Meritage opens two more Taco John’s restaurants in West Michigan and one in Ohio.
