Position Summary
The Shift Manager is responsible for leading restaurant operations during assigned shifts, ensuring exceptional customer service, food safety, and team performance. This role includes opening and closing duties, supervising team members, and supporting overall restaurant effectiveness. Shift Managers foster a positive work environment and uphold company standards to deliver a quality experience for guests.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise team members during assigned shifts to ensure smooth operations.
- Train, monitor, and reinforce food safety procedures and sanitation standards.
- Execute opening and closing procedures including cash management, inventory checks, and restaurant readiness.
- Conduct walk-throughs to ensure cleanliness, safety, and proper food preparation.
- Address escalated guest concerns and resolve customer complaints professionally.
- Assist in production management, temperature logs, waste tracking, and inventory control.
- Support onboarding and training of new hires.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, health regulations, and safety standards.
- Participate in team huddles and meetings to communicate goals and updates.
- Maintain accurate records of cash, sales, and inventory.
- Assist with scheduling and labor management to meet service standards.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- 6 months or more of restaurant, retail, or customer service experience.
- Prior supervisory or shift management experience preferred.
- Availability for full-time work including opening and closing shifts.
- Ability to obtain ServSafe certification within 90 days.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and prior cash handling experience.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to tolerate exposure to noise, extreme temperatures, and other elements.
- Frequently bend, kneel, squat, stand, walk, and twist at waist.
- Push, pull, lift, and carry up to 10 lbs frequently and up to 50+ lbs occasionally.
- Reach, grasp, and manipulate objects with hands throughout the shift.
- Occasionally climb and descend ladders.
- Remain active and standing for long periods without a break.
- Work under pressure during high-volume peak periods while maintaining composure.
